You can start with either a First Spin workshop or a 4-Week Foundations course, both of which welcome first-timers.

Our 8-Week Explorations course assumes you already have a firm handle on the basics, so we'd recommend taking one or more 4-Week courses first.

There's no strict lower age limit, and we've welcomed students as young as 11. Students under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian who's registered for the same class alongside them. If you're registering someone under 18, let us know in advance so we can inform the instructor.

We don't keep a waitlist. Spots are filled first-come, first-served. If a class is full, the best bet is to subscribe to our newsletter or check back on the site for new cohorts.

Free street parking is available on Wade Ave and Jenet Ave. There's a Green P lot on the east side of Lansdowne Ave next to the subway station, plus metered parking on Lansdowne itself. Note that parking on Paton Rd is prohibited from 12:00 AM to 7:00 AM, Monday to Friday.

Our doors open 15 minutes before class starts, so arriving 10 to 15 minutes early gives you time to get settled before we begin.

Students arriving more than 15 minutes late may be denied entry. Each session opens with a step-by-step demonstration, and pausing to catch someone up takes time away from the group and disrupts the experience for everyone who arrived on time.

Comfortable clothes that can get a bit messy. Clay washes out easily, so there's no need to worry about it.

Avoid wearing skirts or dresses as working at the pottery wheel requires you to straddle the wheel with your legs.

Shorts, pants or leggings are preferred.

Shorter nails do make shaping clay on the wheel a little easier, but longer nails are fine. Our instructors will show you a few easy ways to work around them.

No. We provide aprons and all the tools you'll need at the wheel.

That said, if you have a favorite set of tools or prefer your own hand towel, you're always welcome to bring them.

Your registration covers everything you need: clay, glazes, tool use, aprons, shelf storage, instruction, and firing of your course's included pieces.

• First Spin: 1 finished piece, with additional pieces at $10 each.
• 4-Week Foundations: 5 finished pieces, with additional pieces at $10 each.
• 8-Week Explorations: no piece limit. Your course includes 10kg of clay, and you can keep as many pieces as you make from it. More clay is available to purchase if you need it.

Yes. Once glazed and fired, every piece is food-safe, as well as microwave, oven, and dishwasher safe.

Studio membership is reserved for experienced ceramicists who can work fully independently, since no instruction or supervision is provided during member hours.

To become a member, applicants must demonstrate a minimum of 16 weeks of pottery classes, from any studio.

We don't offer paint-your-own or pre-made ceramic painting sessions. We're a traditional wheel-throwing studio, working with pieces from raw clay.

However, we sometimes offer specialty workshops which may include paint-your-own pottery.

No. We don't offer public firing services or kiln rentals. Our kiln is reserved for work made by current students and members.

Your pieces will be ready approximately four weeks after your course ends. We'll e-mail you as soon as they're fired, packed, and ready to go home. Pottery is a slow process, but it's worth the wait.

We hold finished pottery for 30 days after sending your pickup email.

Since studio storage is limited, unclaimed work is donated.

We will send you an e-mail with pick-up instructions once your pots have been fired and carefully packaged.

Please note that pick-up hours slightly differ from our opening hours, so refer to your pick-up e-mail before heading to the studio.

We don't offer refunds, but you can reschedule to a new date with enough notice:

• 4-Week and 8-Week courses: at least 7 days before your start date.
• First Spin: at least 72 hours before class.

As a small independent studio, we keep our class sizes intimate and rely on confirmed bookings to prepare materials, schedule instructors, and cover our costs. Because of that, we can't accommodate changes outside these windows. If you can't give enough notice, you're always welcome to gift your spot to a friend or family member. Just let us know who's coming in your place.

For 4-Week courses, each weekly session covers a distinct step in the process and cohorts are staggered, so we can't offer make-up classes, session credits, or drop-in substitutes. Please make sure you're available for every class before registering.

For 8-Week courses, if you miss a class during Weeks 1 to 6, we offer one make-up in the form of independent studio time, without an instructor, to catch up on your work. Weeks 7 and 8 can't be made up, since we need to hold to our firing schedule.

Pottery is a delicate balance of art and science. Pieces occasionally crack or fail during firing and have to be removed to protect the rest of the kiln. We take real care with everything we fire, but we can't guarantee that every piece survives the process. If something went wrong with yours, our team is always happy to walk you through what happened.
